Cartoon Network has announced that Total Drama Island will be on DVD on August 18th. All 27 episodes including the Reunion special will be included.  Suggested retail prices is 34.99

When Nickelodeon’s Emmy-winning The Wonder Pets! series kicks off its third season on May 18, Eartha Kitt will be among the guest stars, voicing a Cool Cat who wants to scat. Kitt’s voice work for the animated series marks one of her final performances before succumbing to colon cancer last Christmas Day.

Playing Hip Hippo to Kitt’s Cool Cat in the season opener is acclaimed jazz singer Jon Hendricks. Kitt, of course, was one of the actress to play Catwoman to TV’s Batman.

Other guest performers on tap for Season 3 of The Wonder Pets! are Lauren Bacall and Ben Vereen.

The Wonder Pets! chronicles the adventures of three singing classroom pets who travel the world to save animals in distress.

All-New 3-D Series Introduces Babar’s Grandson

(MIPTV – Cannes, France) – After 75 celebrated years, the iconic tales of Babar get a 21st-century update in The New Adventures of Babar, a new 3-D animated series in production from Canada’s Nelvana Studio and France’s TeamTO. Twenty-six episodes are in the works with broadcast set for fall 2010/spring 2011 on TF1 in France and YTV in Canada. Playhouse Disney France is pre-buying the series to air in a second broadcast window.

The series will introduce King Babar’s eight-year-old grandson, and will explore the special relationship between grandparents and grandchildren. Babar’s grandson is a “one-elephant stampede”, bursting with a sense of adventure. He laughs often and has inherited his grandfather’s daring spirit, often plunging into a situation (or a hidden passageway or unexplored temple) fully confident that he can handle whatever he finds. To see his grandson rushing so enthusiastically into the world makes Babar feel as if he is discovering it anew for himself.

Viewers will also meet a cast of new characters including the grandson’s friends: Chiku the monkey (Zephir’s daughter), Monroe the porcupine, Zawadi the zebra and Jake the hyena, offering kid-friendly views of palace intrigue and comic jungle adventures.

Viewers can take a trip through time this May as TELETOON Retro airs classic cartoons from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s in Retro Rewind on May 18 from 3 pm ET. Featuring a sneak-peek of shows including Transformers, Josie and The Pussycats and Top Cat, Retro Rewind also features the feature-length, Hey There, It’s Yogi Bear!.

Also this, month, TELETOON Retro salutes moms with special Mother’s Day episodes of The Jetsons and Alvin & The Chipmunk while vintage episodes of shows such as Fraggle Rock, The Smurfs and The New Adventures of Batman air throughout the schedule.

May 1 – May 7
On Friday, May 1, Catwoman and Clayface team up to hold Gotham City’s oil supply hostage in The New Adventures of Batman at 7 am and 9 pm ET.
On Saturday, May 2, in an episode of The Smurfs never before seen on TELETOON Retro, Grandpa Smurf sets off to find a unicorn’s horn to cure Puppy from poisoned water. The Smurfs airs at 8 am and 8 pm ET everyday.
The band of superheroes encounter a treacherous outer-space warlord when their spaceship is magnetically drawn off course in Fantastic Four at 7 am and 9 pm ET on Wednesday, May 6.

May 8 – May 14
On Sunday, May 10, TELETOON Retro celebrates Mother’s Day with a special episode of Alvin & The Chipmunks at 8:30 am ET in which Alvin, Simon and Theodore go in search for a mother to attend their school picnic. At 4:30 pm ET, it is a bittersweet Mother’s Day for Rosie in The Jetsons.
Fred and Barney audition for a TV show while singer Ann Margrock babysits Pebbles in a vintage episode of The Flintstones on Monday, May 11 at 5 pm and 8:30 pm ET.

May 15 – May 21
On Monday, May 18, TELETOON Retro is treating viewers to a sneak-peek of classic cartoons from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s in Retro Rewind. Book-ending these cartoons is the 1964 feature-length Hey There, It’s Yogi Bear! starring Daws Butler as Yogi and Don Messick as Boo Boo. When Yogi is sent to San Diego Zoo his girlfriend, Cindy, sets out save him. However, when she falls into the clutches of a traveling circus it looks as though it is up to Yogi to do the saving. Hey There, It’s Yogi Bear! airs at 3 pm ET/PT with an encore presentation at 9 pm ET.
After Hey There, It’s Yogi Bear!, TELETOON Retro viewers can catch a selection of cartoon classics that will be joining the TELETOON Retro schedule later in the year. At 5 pm ET, The Huckleberry Hound Show, also featuring the voices of Butler and Messick, follows the languid dog as he tries a variety of jobs. At 5:30 pm ET, the horse sheriff keeps the peace in his Western town in The Quick Draw McGraw Show.
Beginning at 6 pm ET, TELETOON Retro airs two cartoon comedies from the 1960s. First Yogi, along with his long-suffering pal Boo Boo, tries to steal picnic baskets while avoiding Ranger Smith in The Yogi Bear Show. At 6:30 pm ET, a gang of easy-going felines try to have fun in New York City in Top Cat.
As for shows from the 1970s, TELETOON Retro airs Josie and the Pussycats at 7 pm followed by Captain Caveman at 7:30 pm ET. Based on the Archie Comics characters of the same name, Josie and the Pussycats stars an all-girl pop group that get caught-up in curious adventures while on tour. Captain Caveman follows the eponymous and hirsute hero, voiced by Mel Blanc, as he defends Bedrock from Stone-Age villians.
The 1980s strike as Transformers and G.I. Joe join TELETOON Retro at 8 pm ET. There is more than meets the eye as Autobots and Decepticons battle it out on Earth in Transformers while knowing is half the battle when a team of heroes take on the evil COBRA in G.I. Joe. At 8:30 pm ET.

Cartoon Network Ending ‘Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends’

Final episodes, series finale will air as part of afternoon marathon May 3

The Cartoon Network has decided to end Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends after six seasons. The Emmy-winning show, from Powerpuff Girls creator Craig McCracken, will end with a 12-episode marathon (seven favorite episodes plus the final five episodes) on May 3 from 1-7 p.m.

Teenager Tom Majors has discovered that the remote control scanner used for an online game is actually a portal that transports his consciousness to an alternate world called “Chaotic”. In “Chaotic”, advanced players can make the characters on their game cards come to life. When these players engage in battle, they actually become the character or monster they are playing. The rest of the population of “Chaotic” can watch the match-ups via monitors. As the Tom and his friend play, they discover the codes of additional creatures, locations and items in Perim. These can be added to their gaming “decks” through the use of their scanners.
